Worth mentioning, I think, is also Maeve Cookes dissertation on =
Habermas
integration of a speech act theory of meaning:  Language and reason =
(MIT
Press).

	did this get answered? I don't have the texts in front of me,
but if memory
	serves the phrase pops up in H's discussion of Dialectic of
Enlightenment
	in both Theory of Communicative Action (end of vol 1) and Phil
Discourse of
	Modernity (chapter on Horkheimer & Adorno). Martin Jay wrote a
whole
	article on the topic as well. Also there are several excellent
	counter-critiques of Habermas' use of this concept, if you read
German.
