There has been an ongoing flame war about Postone on
another list (it isn't worth reading or following up on since
there is no archive).
I'm not familiar with all of the arguments, and I'm not at liberty
to expand on these points, so I'll just note these passing
shots raised by others in the debate (without comment) -
1. Adorno doesn't distinguish between abstract and concrete
labour which becomes problematic for a contemporary
reinterpretation of Marx
2. Postone's analysis of concrete labour is too abstract
3. Postone's analysis of concrete labour is too concrete
4. Postone's critique of Habermas is persuasive
I would be interesting in pursuing a discussion of Postone's
book if anyone else is interested.
