jobs for heterodox econ in Galway

Dear all,

The National University of Ireland Galway has several posts starting
soon. The department is relatively heterodox friendly. You might want to
flag me if you apply. You do NOT necessarily have to speak any Irish
for the posts.

Best,

Terry McDonough
National University of Ireland,
Galway

LECTURESHIPS IN ECONOMICS

The Department of Economics wishes to invite applications for three (3)
posts, two permanent, fulltime posts at Lecturer level (above or below
the bar)(Posts I & II) and one Fixed Contract post (Post III), to expand
the teaching capacity and to enhance the research output of the
Department.

The Department of Economics is one of the largest Departments in the
University: it has two undergraduate programmes in Commerce and Arts, a
postgraduate Diploma in Economics, two masters programmes, Economic
Policy
Evaluation and Planning and Rural Development, and a Ph.D. programme. It
also has a number of part-time and distance learning programmes and
provides
service teaching to a wide range of programmes.

The research output of the Department is quite eclectic but it has also
consolidated its research activity into a number of areas of
concentration,
arising from HEA, EU and other funding :
-	Spatial Economics (Local, rural and regional)
-	Economics of Social Policy
-	Environmental Economics
-	Economic Theory and Methodology
-	Economics of Innovation and Technology
(Please see Departments website for information on programmes, staff
and
research activity: www.economics.nuigalway.ie)

It is expected that all appointees have good communication skills and
are
capable of teaching Micro or Macroeconomics courses to graduate level
(in the case of Posts I & II) and have a demonstrated capacity to carry
out
independent research. A Ph.D. or equivalent is deemed to be an essential
qualification for Post I&II.

The following specialisms are attaching to the posts:

Post 1: Monetary and Financial Economics

Posts II & III: Specialist in one of the areas of
research concentration
noted above

Although priority will be given to candidates with the specialisms noted
above, the Department would welcome applications from highly qualified
candidates in any area.

While it is desirable that the successful candidates take up their
appointments at the earliest possible date, the starting date and terms
are
negotiable with the Department Head (up to a maximum of one year from
the
date of appointment).

The current salary scales are as follows:
Lecturer (Above the bar): EUR54,258 - 71,793
Lecturer (Below the bar):	EUR34,346 - 48,714
Fixed Contract: EUR32,632 - 46,279
