RESEARCH ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE IN ECONOMICS

GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENT INSTITUTE

The Tufts University Global Development and Environment Institute, jointly administered by the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and the Tufts University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, is seeking a researcher for a one-year appointment, starting early in 2004, with continuation possible based on funding and performance.

The position will focus on research and literature reviews to make selections for two electronic collections of  economic literature, one for use in the Third World, the other primarily for the U.S..  Both collections stress sustainable development, human well-being, and other topics that are of interest to students but tend to be underrepresented in undergraduate curricula.

Requirements include an M.A. in economics, substantial research experience, excellent judgment, good organizational skills, and the ability to organize and complete a web site.  The candidate should have a strong interest in alternative economic approaches, and familiarity with perspectives such as ecological and social economics.  Ability to work independently on projects, as well as cooperatively with other members of a research team, is essential.

This is a twelve month position, with full health and vacation benefits.  Preferably fullâtime, but possibly 4/5th time.  Salary commensurate with qualifications.  Interested candidates should send a letter of application, a curriculum vita, a list of references, and evidence of research and teaching experience to Jonathan.harris@xxxxxxxxx
