James Galbraith's Real American Model
I chanced on www.opendemocracy.net (because of messages
from the discussion list of www.simpol.org ) and at the URL
below found James Galbraith's Real American Model.
The model is headed by a brief of its content, as follows:
The US economic model that commands around a third
of the world's wealth fascinates and infuriates Europeans.
But both reactions reveal ignorance of its most essential
features. The keys to its success lie not in industry, but in
those sectors providing social amenities to the middle class
-- health care, education, housing and pensions: systems of
provision that have little to do with the free market.
The whole of the model is as:

A PKT seminar on the model and its full meaning in present
crises here and abroad, begun at the above URL, would be
most appropriate -- as the Fall Semester begins and the time
is ripe for serious thought.
