Dear All,
I would like to add two brief points to Fred Lee's recent message about the ICAPE conference.
As Fred indicated, this conference inspired a remarkable range of papers and discussions, and a strong spirit of solidarity among the participants. At the same time, we (the conference organizers) recognize that many people and perspectives were missing from this event. This conference was a very exciting first step, to be sure. But we believe that ICAPE has only begun to realize its potential as an international community of scholars and teachers committed to the development of a genuinely pluralist economics. To this end, I hope that each of you will plan to participate in our next gathering in 2006.
I also would like to extend a special thanks to Fred Lee. The success of this first ICAPE conference is in many ways a reflection of his incredible energy and know-how, and his long-standing commitment to the development of heterodox economics as a solidaristic, multiparadigm community.
Rob
