global Keynesianism at the United Nations (3) - ILO

Some [global?] [transnational?] [post?] [-?] Keynesianism is lingering at the International Labour Office (ILO). Some post-Keynesians agree with some of the ILO text below, as follows:

(a) global full employment as a policy goal -- Eatwell in Michie and Grieve Smith (1995), Singh and Zammit, ibid.

(b) importance of learning, education -- Pasinetti (1990s) (in the ILO text below, this is called ?investment in human capital?); this was also emphasized at the first South Summit (Havana 2000); capitalists and socialists, North and South of the world appear to agree on that;

(c) overcoming discrimination in the global labour market(s) - Köhler (2002,?equal pay for work of equal value globally? as a goal)

Gernot Köhler

Overview

. . .

Growth cannot in itself be expected to ensure that the needed 500 million jobs are of sufficient quality to bring all the world's workers closer to the enjoyment of decent work. To achieve this requires much greater attention to core labour market issues, including investments in human capital, overcoming discrimination and making employment a central goal of economic policy.
