 the best for the economy is to remove the uncertainty of the war, the
senseless waste and diversion of resources, and the potential impact on
energy prices. There is not likely to be very much fiscal stimulus from the
war, and the fiscal stimulus that would result would be better directed
elsewhere.

To segui back on topic, what will be the war's
effect on the economy?  Will not the "military Keynesian"
spending increase aggregate demand and boost the
economy?  (WW II did that).  Or will a war against
Saddam Hussein not be big enough?  Would maintaining
Saddam in power, as a threat, be better for the economy?
It would add to military spending on a more continuous
basis than a short war.

Setting aside all political, moral, ethical questions--what
would be best for the economy?  Short and Long.
