I am sorry, but the process you describe just does not make sense.  When the
experiment was replicated 100 times, I would like to know in how many of those
cases did the graduate students or Yaglom find a unit root?

And the n-th difference sowing statistical significance.

So your argument about a type II error in all these cases just does not hold
water.
