Neo-Marxist Schools
Dear PKT,
I am a graduate student in sociology interested in anyone's views on the French Regulation School of Marxism (which is in some ways similar to the Gordon, Edwards, Reich school in the U.S.).
Michel Aglietta (1979) argues that U.S. capitalism found itself in crisis (Great Depression) and this was because the productive capabilities of capitalism surpassed the consumption of the working class. Therefore, the solution was to achieve a "social norm of consumption" in the working class.
Is there decent evidence for this view?
Thanks,
Tom
