Re: Paul D. on this year's Nobel

After following his postings on PKT during the past two years, I have come
to view Paul Davidson as one of the few top-rank economic scholars who,
having the courage of his convictions, has placed the cause of better
economics above that of self.

And, while the precise shape of such better economics has yet to come into
focus, I agree with what I take to be Paul's view that the cause will not be
served by, as the saying goes, rearranging the chairs on the Titanic's sun
deck.

That was also my own approach in my Ph. D. thesis work at Harvard in the
1970s.  When word thereof passed through the grapevine to my IMF
supervisors, the single most rapid rise of any young economist on the IMF
staff came to an abrupt halt.

Hence my deep conviction that there is NO place for intellectual compromise
with the self-serving defenders of the status quo in either academia or
institutions such as the IMF - all SOBs in that respect!

That, I take it, is also Paul's position.

Thank you Gunnar.  That is my position.
