Absolutely right. He visited Sweden some time in the mid '90s and the
economists and politicians he met were boiling over with fury over having to
listen to the truth from a giant not only by physical proportions but also by
wisdom, intellect, simply by being the genius he is. The only way they have
been able to preserve their conservative hegemony in that country against
intellectual superpowers like Galbraith was to keep him off the Nobel prize
list. Vickrey's prize was a "mistake" in the sense that they rewarded him for
what he'd done early in his career - the last four decades he had only
produced "opinions" according to Assar Lindbeck. Imagine what he'd have to say
about Galbraith!
