Income tax and employment

I was wondering if a relationship exists between the rate of income tax
and the rate of unemployment. I do not mean the simple minded notion
that lowering of income taxes will always lead to a reduction in
unemployment.
I am looking for evidence of a phase (i.e. time) difference between
oscillations in income taxes and the unemployment rate.
