Re: John Nash on TV
Stephen,
A very controversial book that includes a
sharp critique of Nash's approach to game
theory, as well as a broader discussion of its
history and development is Phil Mirowski's
_Machine Dreams: Economics Becomes a
Cyborg Science_, 2002, Cambridge University
Press, available in paperback. This book is
frying a lot of other fish besides game theory and
must be viewed as both very important, as well
as very controversial. I happen to disagree with
a number of things in it, including thinking that its
critique of Nash is overdone, but also think that
it is right about a lot of stuff and that it contains a
lot of material that has never been seen or discussed
seriously before.
