"The newly global economy has left out millions [billions?] of people."

Thanks to Jozef for a touch of the WEF. (What Jozef
sent "Victory over Want forum" is a NY Times article,
"Economic Forum Draws Rich, Powerful and 'Spoiled'
by TODD S. PURDUM (February 1, 2002 New
York Times--a brief overview of last night at the WEF
         or 'Davos in new York')

The message so far seems to be:

"We need to harness the growth potential of
              globalization." -- Kaspar Villiger, president
                                       of the Swiss Confederation

I do not take it as true that globalization of
production cannot or should not be curtailed.

I can see merit in producing the whole car and
the whole computer in one country. There is and
will be no need to so specialize manufacture, and
so seek economies of scale that only a few nations
will specialize in producing component parts for
every complex machine. This kind of specialized
production may be logical from a financial profit
perspective--it is not necessary in the real
        world.
In the real world there may be emotional
satisfaction from local production from scratch
of a whole apple pie. No crust from here, apples
from there and glaze from somewhere else.

Still, there is and will be globalization that makes
sense. We do need standardization in a few areas
to permit safe global transportation and communi-
cation--of the kind that crosses borders and
should not be faced with incompatibilities. This,
however may not imply that local manufacture
(according to global standards) is out of the
        question.

From the VOW perspective, the subject of this
message speaks to another vital topic: "The newly
global economy has left out millions [billions?] of
        people."

The text that Jozef sent us used millions--it is
actually billions. The old global economy left out
out billions--the newly emerging global economy
        still does.

It leaves them out because THERE'S NOT
        ENOUGH MONEY TO GO AROUND.
Print the money and you'll soon find no one
left out. Print too much and we'll all be back
        to barter.

That is my message to you. We do not have to
redraw human DNA. We do not have to get, lose,
or reinvent religion. Narcissim can stay as it is.
You can remain as you are--and so can I.

We do not have to put one and only one head
        on all our shoulders:

WE JUST HAVE TO HAVE ENOUGH
MONEY GO AROUND -- AND NO MORE
        THAN THAT AMOUNT--PLUS SOME
OVERAGE WE CAN LEAVE AS UNSPENT
        SAVINGS. (EVEN UNSPENT GOVERNMENT
SAVING OF MONEY IT GARNERED AS
        TAX REVENUE RATHER THAN SPENDING
        INTO EXISTENCE.).
