Re: Japan and global demand

two experts on this topic are Halevi (Grenoble/France) and Kriesler (Sydney/Australia)
Kriesler and Halevi have a paper on "Asia, Japan and the Internationalization of Demand" (1998) in the pkt archive at:

http://csf.colorado.edu/pkt/authors/Kriesler.Peter/International-effective-dd-asia-japan

Their paper includes a discussion of domestic versus international demand in the case of Japan.
The references include articles by Halevi in French.

An article with a similar title is included in:

Restoring demand in the world economy : trade, finance and technology
/ edited by Joseph Halevi, Jean-Marc Fontaine.
Cheltenham, UK ; Northampton, MA : Edward Elgar, c1998.
(very interesting collection of articles!)

With greetings from Canada,
Gert
