The Centre of Full Employment and Equity at the University of Newcastle is holding its Third Path to Full Employment Conference, which will be held at the University of Newcastle on Thursday, June 14 and Friday, June 15, 2001.
The Conference will focus on the consequences of unemployment in advanced monetary economies from a broad perspective. It will also present the latest work from international researchers, which focuses on the development of coherent strategies designed to eliminate unemployment and maintain price stability. The equity implications of these policies and the failure to implement them will be examined in various papers.

Two special sessions will be staged:
1. The Five Economists versus the Job Guarantee - How to get to Full Employment
2. Special Financial Markets Workshop will be presented by Warren Mosler,
Director
of AVM Funds Management, Florida. Warren will be discussing the dangers of running budget surpluses,
financial market instability
and unemployment and the likely reaction of financial markets to the
introduction of widespread
government job creation from the practitioners perspective. A
question and answer format will
be used in this workshop and audience participation will be
encouraged. A panel will also be assembled. .The Conference dinner will feature a speech from an ATSIC Commissioner (details being finalised) who will talk on the topic of the role of full employment in the reconciliation process.
