Re: Sv: [lwside1] Re: Danish vote on the Euro

Earlier CNN Headline News: Danes 'to say yes to euro'

The misreporting based in early exit polls reminds one of the Truman
headline.

It is not easy to persuade people to vote for joining a currency that has
lost 25 percent of its value against the U.S. dollar in 20 months.

A "no" vote from the only country whose electors have been given the chance
to vote on the subject would further erode confidence in the embattled euro
on the foreign exchange markets, despite G7 intervention.

The "no" campaigners include greens, communists and euro-sceptic veterans in
the June Movement, and the far-right Danish People's Party. It seems that
the neo-liberal center is on the defensive from all directions.

Right-wing nationalist identity politics has been vocal across Europe.
Opposition to the euro is linked with questions about immigration and
multiculturalism. Anti-globalization sentiment no doubt is spilling over to
anti-regionalism.
