Dear Ric and Paul:
I am forwarding to you a message from Joseph Halevi following a message
from Bernard Paulpre regarding a petition being circulated by French
economics professors in support of a movement started by French students
asking for less mathematics and more pluralism in economics courses. I
feel it would be appropriate for this information to be circulated on the
PKT and among UK Post-Keynesians, so that plenty of foreign economists
support this French initiative by getting on their international signature
list.
>Dear all:=20
>Aux armes citoyens!!
>The students of the mathematical schools in France (Ecole Normale) are in
rebellion against the dogmatic teaching of economics.... On October 4
there will be a mass meeting at Sorbonne, it would be good if they get as
many supporting signatures as possible.
> [Check the website of] the English version of the supporting letter in
favour of the students signed by 190 French academic economists [ Among
others the signatories are: Michel Aglietta, Robert Boyer, Pascal Petit and
most historians of economic thought..]. It is this letter that acts as a
document to sign. Please send your signature saying "I support your letter"
to professor Bernard Paulre' from Paris 1 whose email is :
>
>paulre@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx =20
>
>THIS IS THE ONLY CORRECT EMAIL DISREGARD THAT APPEARING ON THEIR WEBSITE.
IT IS WRONG
>
>The second document is the students' manifesto, in French, extremely=
pungent!
>
>Best regards Joseph Halevi
>Do not forget to sign with your university and departmental affiliation
and functions.
>>
>Dear Colleagues,
>
>Many thanks for your support to our protest.
>
>We have created an "international list of signatures".
>
>Could you get the support of some others colleagues ? Our text has been
>translated in english : http://www.samizdat.net/debateco/PetitUK1.html
>
>You can find the text of the students (in french) on this place :
