All are mad. Some are angry
www.algore2000.com , Al Gore's official site, says
we can reduce poverty to below 1 in ten Americans
by 2004.
Stated in another way, it says that if we reduced
involuntary poverty to zero the effect would be
hell on everyone from the many who are just a
little better off than poor to the few who are truly
rich.
Of course, nobody believes this. But everyone
does accept it.
Everyone is absolutely mad.
But just a few of us are angry.

Reduce Poverty to Below 10% for the First Time Ever
The Gore-Lieberman plan will help families lift themselves out of poverty by
raising the minimum wage, expanding tax credits for the working poor,
building on successful welfare reform efforts, cracking down on deadbeat
dads, and strengthening Social Security for elderly women living alone. With
these measures -- and much more -- by 2004, we will see fewer than 1 in 10
Americans living in poverty for the first time ever.
