Berlin Conference on Progressive Governance

Hello PKTers, I'm a reading member of the list studying economics from a cultural theory/systems science perspective.

Will any members be attending or presenting papers at the Berlin
Conference on "Progressive Governance in the 21st Century" taking
place June 1-3?
This conference brings together the leaders of 16 countries who will discuss
the role of government in the context of global economic competition and
global markets, looking at ways to strengthen civil society, and how to
advance the idea of community, from both a global and national perspective.

As a leading dotcom developer, our principal at the NRG group, Vicki
Saunders, will be joining the Canadian delegation to the conference. Led
by our PM Jean Chretien and composed of prominent premiers, business and NGO
leaders from various sectors of our digital economy, our delegation will
share the "Canadian Way" with the conference. This is comprised of various
"third way" policies such as aids to sustainable global growth, social
responsibility, and market liberalism.

I would be grateful for your current analysis of the "third way" vis a vis
the interplay of economics, community and governance, and any suggestions
for further reference material. I realize these are broad terms.

As a cultural theorist, I am passionate about creating and promoting new
models of thought in our culture. I see a shift away from commonly accepted
classical models towards a chaos based, consensus-building paradigm (much
like this list) that reflects the fragmenting nature of the new idea-driven
paradigms. I see new models for investor activism and greater ethical
accountability on the part of corporations and a general expansion of the
conceptual interplay between "value" and "capital" in the economic culture
of ideas. Needless to say, Steve Keen's "Debunking Economics" holds
particular interest for me.
I look forward to your ideas and suggestions.
