Henry Liu mentoned the problem of time-outs in the middle of long downloads,
such as .pdf files. There is program to help with this problem. It is called
"Getright" and is available from

http://getright.com/

This program makes it possible to restart the download at the point it broke
down, instead of going back to the beginning.

There is a catch. The file which contains the program,  getrt420.exe, is
itself three megabytes, so download it when you have a fast connection, at
least 44,000 bps, and America is asleep.

.pdf files (Acrobat) make be big but they are lovely to have. The latest
version of  Wordperfect, version 9.0, will produce an Acrobat file. That
makes it a bargain.
