investment in the new economy?
There has been alot of talk on the list recently about investment and
savings. also some talk about the impact of various wealth effects on
consupmtion (probably best put in terms of *.com wealth).
i have an interest in the response of unemployment to a unit increase in
investment. particullary any contrast work done between *.com's and the
'traditional' sector.
does anyone know of any empirical work done on this?
my own intuition leads me to believe that [dU/dI] is getting smaller. what
is this called? the investment elasticity of unemployment. it is often
assumed that an increase in investment will lead to a fall in unemployment,
perhaps this is less true in the emerging *.com economy.
