For added amusement, you could consult the Federal Budget
Analytical Perspectives, which reports a value of $294
billion for land owned by the Feds, and $364b for mineral
rights.

Could you give your source in more detail.
Here's mine: table 1-3 at

It gives total federal ownership at just under 25%.
