Heterodox Economics Conference
Dear colleague,
For the fourth year running we are hosting the Post Graduate Economics
Conference at Leeds. Our aim in setting up the conference is to provide a unique
forum for postgraduate (PhD) students to present their research, predominantly,
but not exclusively, in the area of heterodox economics.
We are writing to you with details on the conference because you may be
supervising doctoral students, or have colleagues who are doing so, or you may
be a student yourself. We would appreciate it if you could pass on the 'call for
papers' below to your students and colleagues.
While the papers are given by students, each year we attract many academics
to the conference, who provide useful feedback and discussion on the
proceedings. We also have a keynote address from an established academic. In
previous years our speakers have included Geoff Harcourt and Bob Rowthorn.
We hope that you will be able to attend this year's conference on Friday 12th
November to offer support and encouragement to the next generation of
heterodox economists.
At the moment we are still calling for papers, but if you are interested in
attending please keep the date free and refer to our web-site
http://www.leeds.ac.uk/cipp/pgc.htm for further details.
Many thanks,
Gary Slater
for the conference committee

Building on the success of previous conferences - which have
attracted participants from around the world - we are again providing

genuine plurality of debate between areas and approaches within
economics and related social sciences. In addition to the
presentation of papers, there will also be a poster session. Papers
and posters are invited from any area or perspective in economics.
We especially welcome papers in the following areas:
The Economics of Work and Employment
Methodological and Philosophical Issues in Economics
Money and Uncertainty
Technological and Industrial Change in a Global Economy
The deadline for submission is Friday, 17th September 1999
To be considered for presentation, a full paper must be sent.
For consideration for the poster session only, please send a two page
summary.
Before sending papers please consult the style guide at the
conference website.
