Harry,

Remember that Etzioni is not an economist.
What he refers to as ``theories'' in this article
are largely business-press simplifications.

And when he says
``If all countries became mini-Americas,
none of them (including the United States) would be
able to glow as the United States has for the last few
years'' he clearly has no clue what he is talking about.
