Paul on Smith, Keynes, etc.
Paul- Let's be fair. We never said Smith was first, so if you want to take
Chartalism back further, that doesn't contradict anything we say.
Also, we never said that there is no evidence for other views in Smith,
but clearly there is evidence for this view as well. Anyone who knows
Smith, knows you can all kinds of views there, often contradictory.
Also, Smith took a very historical approach, he believed different
analyses applied to different historical cases, periods, etc.
Also, it is fine to quote the section from Keynes that you do. But you
should at least also give your take on the Keynes quotes we provided. How
do they relate? What, to you, did Keynes mean when he saiys he accepts
Knapp's view, etc.
