EU: "Revenu social minimum"

Bernard Girard writes today:

"- every one in Bruxelles talks about a "revenu social minimum",
a kind of salary that everyone above 18 would receive. The idea,
not far [from] some of Friedman's, would pave the way to the
privatization of most of what we call social security (health, rents
for old persons...) and the introduction of pension funds ; ..."

On PKT we have often had advocates for a
citizens' dividend to make sure there is aggregate
money demand for goods produced for sale,
(allowing for markdowns and losses on stuff
that fails to measure up to need and legitimate
desire -- the latter being hard to define).

Let us hear more from France and Europe on
this universal salary. It has simplicity in its favor.
If Europe is likely to suffer from overproduction,
	the remedy offered sounds right.

Do we really need "public" versus "private"
operations in matters of economic justice.
I believe we need law that guarantees the
benefits promised will be there for the
recipients intended. As to who cuts the
checks and does the accounting, what's the
	difference. Compromise on form where
substance is achieved would appear to be
	proper.

Modern nations cannot afford poverty, it costs too much.
