I have no objection to a reasonably accurate paraphrase, but I do
object to such a misrepresentation of what you suggest is
contained here:
"I haven't been a formal student for quite some time,
but I suspect there is still a large portion of
credentialed mediocrity who as the saying goes
"those who can do, those who can't teach." I can
only hope that there are also an abundance of those
who struggled to learn and have a talent to teach
who still find the effort worthwhile." -- jbod --
which does not imply any dislike, let alone "hate," of academics.
A large portion of a small subset is hardly the generalization
you state.
Your comments on your own experience only show that there may
still be such dedicated teachers at U of H or, at least, that you
have not yet experienced the arrogance of some of the elite.
