Doug sells books
Doug Henwood made a book-tour visit to Palo Alto, California
last night. Doug gave a 40 minute talk and answered questions
for 20 minutes. 100 people present - standing room only. At the
end there were 15 hands in the air to ask questions, but time ran
out.
Like Doug's book (Wall Street), his talk was dense with information.
Admittedly, California Street in Palo Alto is "left bank" -- but the
capitalism of
Silicon Valley is omnipresent. The interest shown in Doug's revelations
indicates that there is an audience for heterodox economics. There is
a possibility of educating the populace if PKT economists will only make
the effort.
On the light side: a women near me said she couldn't buy Doug's book
because he had told her she shouldn't benefit from the labor of others.
I suggested she shouldn't be in a book store -- all in good humor.
