Re: Warren's Seminar (and ric's plea) and Bill Mitchell
Bill Mitchell:
If your apparent belief, (I assume blindly sincere) that FOOD has nothing to do with
Economics, perhaps you could explain to me and divert me from my folly, just how did the
concept of Economics ever come about in the first place? Has the central theme always
been solely to nurture the well to do and to hell with everyone else?
Before there was the burgeoning of GDP only this last century, (all GDP has to be
derived from people who had first to be fed) coincidentally with previously unheard of
and unimaginable reports of any Food being deliberately destroyed, except by an enemy
who could not take the Food with them, and farmers paid subsidies NOT to produce, what
was on the minds of the majority of any population, even now? What are the concerns
about the unfortunates in your own outback, or in any other area of the world with
corpses lying about with their ribs sticking out? Is it "Where is my next Mercedes to
come from?"
I'm ready at all times to be corrected. Please tell me exactly what is the origin of
Economics, the Science of Scarcity. Was Money an essential ingredient from day one, how
did Money get involved, and exactly what is Money in view of the fact that Money per se
cannot be found anywhere, held, felt or seen, only paper or metal allusions to the
existence of Money? Is Money not an imaginary surrogate for Food (and Food derivatives,
GDP), in the marketplace? I stand to be corrected, a wide eyed student before the
omniscient professor.
As an aside, the word "fuck," a corruption of the word "fecundate," probably on most
young people's minds in view of nature's endowment of hormones inducing fecundation and
propagation, though apparently commonly used in Australia by all levels of society as an
epithet, is here usually common only among the street people, and is otherwise deemed
vulgar to some degree. This is not a criticism, but a bit of information.
Please give me like information on the source of the philosophy of Scarcity Economics,
professor. What else, if not Food, is the basis of Economic Philosophy?
