dear ric

the top (1) and (2) - (with (1) and (2) options) are contradictory.

I thoroughly agree with trond (who of-course agreed with me - and i am sure he
will agree with me again...!). this is an important revolution in our time.
whenever people get hold of a resource they seek to limit its use. if we are
going to talk of social pressure and collectives then let the collective make
the decision. so far this morning (oz time) i have only read one message
supporting any restrictions at all. so how do you come up with the conclusion
that we will have these "thin end of the wedge" constraints?

if you are serious that the (400-8) subscribers want limitations then ask them.
have a pkt vote. we would have to have a debate as to what would constitute a
decision rule, but if an overwhelming majority said they were in favour then
you might have some sort of case. your decision is based on a few marginals
relative to the stock. i know in neoclassical production theory they are
obsessed with the margin but why should we be as long as the stock is large.

so
(a) have a vote
(b) if you are really going to place restrictions then i will unsub. i know
this is not a decision of great import to anyone but i wouldn't feel right
knowing that i have to "count" what i think.

what is the final decision from the "moderator" ric?

kind regards
bill
