Re: open forum
Instituting formal rules about the number of contributions
per day is a bad idea, I think. I might go a month without
sending in any messages and then, on a single day, might
send in 3 messages as some discussion (moving rapidly)
requires it.
To be frank, the problem of too many messages coming
from pkt is due to a very small number of individuals.
Their behavior is leading to an "overgrazing the commons,"
so to speak, to the harm of all.
Regulating the behavior of all, by instituting formal
or informal rules, is a bad idea when the problem of
overgrazing is due to a small number of contributors.
These people should try to keep their contributions down to
a more reasonable level.
The delete key is not always the best answer. If I delete
the contributions of a few individuals who make many
contribtions, this leads to a discontinuity in the discussion
that remains as some are responding to the messages of the
"delete few." Therefore, I often don't follow many threads
because it is too hard to fill in the gaps.
