Well, I have to say that I've been thinking about unsubscribing for
precisely the reason Ric mentioned: the volume is overwhelming.

I'm on another list, about the same size as pkt, full of friendly
talkative folks, just like pkt.  The list moderators have dealt with
the overload problem by asking people, as a matter of courtesy, to
limit themselves to three postings per day.  The postings may however
be of any length the poster likes.  This seems to work: most people are
conscientious and good sports about it, and I gather that listers who
flagrantly ignore the rule are gently and privately chided by the list-
moderators about the need to practice netiquette.

Just a thought.
