Re: The Generality of Theories
One of the normative dreams of modern science is to integrate all
knowledge. The degree of knowledge integration achieved by an age is a
function of the generality of its theories - thus the desire for general
theories. The most general theories are meta-theories which present
theories of theories (see Principia Cybernetica project on WWW). Of
course, these most general of all theories are without instrumental
content.
