Minimum Wage Study
There was an article in the Chronicle (April 21, 1995) about Card and Krueger's
minimum wage study. Supposedly, there are two other economists who have found
that wage hikes have led employers to cut jobs--using some of the same fast food
establishments in New Jersey. They only used 70 restaurants as opposed to Card
and Krueger's 410.
Of course, the study that found adverse wage effects was funded by the
Employment Policies Institute--a research "arm" of manufacturers, restaurants,
and retailers.
