pkt seminar

I want to thank everyone who participated in the last pkt seminar.
It was the first time that we used a postsript file (and I'm sure
for some of you hopefully the last :-)). But people put up with it
with a good sense of humor and I know that many of you learned something
about the archives and trying to download ps files. Because of your
comments Gary and I learned a lot and will work on a more flexible
permanent system for making seminar archives easy to access and interesting
to look at. But I do hope that people will experiment with downloading
.ps files, putting up your own papers in the pkt archives through ftp
and learning more about gopher, ftp and WWW. Believe me the return that
you will receive from this investment of time will be great. We have some
files and writing up others that will help you to use the archives.
I also want to thank Heinz and Neri for taking the time to lead the
seminar and responding to everyone's questions. Now, this is what I'm
hoping. I have this vision that organizations like the EEA will have
many of its papers posted before and after their annual meetings which
will allow people the opportunity to read and think about the paper
before and after the meetings. Heinz and Neri will be presenting the
seminar paper "The 'New" Growth Theory: Old Wine in New Goatskins"
at the EEA meeting in New York City next month. I hope this seminar
provided people an opportunity to read and think about the paper
and will go to Heinz's and Neri's session more excited and ready
to discuss their paper. And for those who can't make the EEA meetings
it provides you an opportunity to still be part of the meetings.
