Yes, I've heard of cases where counterfeiting had been used as a
weapon of war (mostly by the US, though I think Iran or Iraq has
been accused of doing so). Has a government ever done this to
itself? The (probably tall) tale I heard was that the Chaing kai-
shek government dumped money on its people in a vain effort to
raise its popularity.
