I have not yet find any paper in English. I will continue to look for it.

There is another paper about Japanese firms ,and I think it would be
better for your study.
Tokunaga,Nomura,Hiraki (1991) "Japanese firms :World strategy and activity
-Globarization of Japanese electronics industry-" Dobunkan
(Of course in Japanese!)
This book reports about the relation with subcontracts, analysis of
production system,Japanese management system in the foreign country.
There is an analysis of difference between the domestic activity
and the foreign one. So you can find what is general and
what is cultural oriented.
P.S.
I'm sorry for being late. I took an examination of "Kyudo",Japanese
Archery last Sunday. And I've got a 2nd grade license.
