Re Craig's treatment by the Journal of Economic Methodology.

As an ex-lawyer, I'd have to say that if the law of contracts applied
to journal submissions, Craig would have a right to sue for breach of
contract! That letter is definitely an "offer", and Craig's actions in
revising and re-submitting definitely constitute and "acceptance";
though the amateurism of the editor shows through in omitting an
explicit statement offering to publish.

His behaviour in getting a second set of referees to overturn the
favourable judgments of the first set is reminiscent of the bad old
days of Australian (and American?) immigration, when officials would
give those they didn't want to admit into the country a "language
test"... in any language the officials cared to nominate.

Perhaps a group letter could be composed, and "electronically" signed
by all those on the list willing to do so, criticising the editor for
his actions?
