Re: Joining 'em or beating 'em
For a moment I thought Paul and I were going to agree--and I should have
known better. The issue is how to define othodoxy, and that has been
discussed at length here so I won't get into it. As for common sense,
here I agree with Paul (yes, I do) ultimately it is common sense that
determines policy. That is why back in the depression even Simons and
Knight, and Pigou were advocating deficit spending. That's been
my attack on graduate econommic education; it doesn't tell students that
ultimately it is common sense that lets one judge all the fancy theoy.
