Long and Short of it
Ric,
You say "we should not sacrifice the long run for the short". Does
that imply we should sacrifice the short for the long run -- sounds
a great deal like "short term pain for long run gain" to me. We
certainly have had the short term pain here, but because of it we
have not had the structural change that would produce long term gain.
