RE:Baseball strike
Since the baseball strike has entered our discussions, I offer the following
as a solution. The stakes in professional sports evoke unbounded greed
because they are so high with revenues from TV rights. Let's bring the fans
who provide these riches to the bargaining table. Let's not attend anymore
games until we fans are given the broadcast rights. The public could then
give themfree to broadcasters in exchange for cheaper advertising rates whch
must be passed on to the beer and car consuming public in lower prices for
these products.
No one ever asked me if I wanted to pay more for my beer so that sme
athletes could make more money thatn they know what to do with. Neither the
team owners nor players created the technology which now makes them rich.
The TV sports watching public deserves the fruit of this technolgy as much
as the gold-adorned parties making fools of themselves arguing over an
ill-begotten hoard. Quit charging the broadcasters, and let the team owners
and players earn more normal profits and salaries and maybe they would think
twice abut losing a month's salary and thumbing their gold ringed noses (and
ears) at we fans.
