"Targetting in Japan
Would you mind showing me how to get this report.
Beason and D.Weinstein (1993)
"Grouth,Economies of scale, and Targetting in Japan (1955-1990).
" Harverd Institute of Economic Research,Discussion Paper #1644
I read the summary of this report on a japanese magazine. It says
1)The government subsidy has been for the stugnant industries.
2)The subsidy which the growing industries have been recieved
is lower than that of the stagnant industries.
3)The correlation between policy instrument and growth rate
is negative.
Conclusion
This is because
1)The government failed to hit the hopeful industries.
or
2)The government assistance has been for the stagnent industries
or the big corporations of lower productivity.
But I don't think so. There must be some statistical tricks
,which MITI often use, when they calcurate at government subsidy.
Do you have some comment on this ?
