Two comments for Bill Mitchell:
1) I find it highly amusing that recently there have been some
vague rumblings out of the Real Business Cycle camp that
sometimes "technology shocks" might also include "policy shocks."
Hmmm, so much for policy impotence?
2) Linearizing locally is OK as long as one stays local. To
quote Jim Ramsey again from the recent EEA meetings, "regression
is local, projection (forecasting) is global."
