I am reminded of the tragic-hilarious documentary movie "Roger and Me"
(also shown in far away Norway) about what happened in Flint, Ohio (?)
when GM closed up its operations there and the town collapsed
afterwards. Then also there was "a silver lining" in the form of a
brand new prison, just in time for the steeply rising crime rate, which
again was due mainly to skyrocketing unemployment after the GM
closure. I distinctly remember the scene where we were told that
prison guards (former auto workers) were happily employed guarding the
inmates (also former auto workers)....
(Now, what was the name of the guy behind that movie??)
