Re: Even more equilibrium, stasis and death
I would note that although he proudly accepted the title
of "libertarian," there is reason to question whether Hayek really
was one or not, at least by current standards. Among his later
writings is the argument that spontaneously self-organized community
standards of behavior have a certain pre-eminence. This sounds
rather like the Old Hegelian "real is rational." One example of his
resulting non-libertarianism is that he attacked Keynes for his
bisexuality. I do not think this would be the attitude of consistent
modern libertarians.
BTW, Jim, Robert Novak claims that the Americans for Disabilities
Act is going to prevent the Invisible Hand from fixing up LA!
