discussion and undergrads
- Subject: discussion and undergrads

I want to thank everyone for what I consider to be an open and high level
discussion of some very important issues facing heterodox economics. We
have covered everything from Marxian thought to the Austrians. For those
on the list who are undergraduate or graduate students who feel a little
bit left behind in the dust you should feel free to ask any question(s)
you might have. We are very fortunate to have in my opinion some of the
very finest economists of this century on this net and I'm sure they or
anyone else would be more than happy to answer any questions you might
have.
This spring semester I plan to have my students in my intermediate macro
sub to pkt. What I want them to see is how economists talk to one another
and how ideas are developed (so we need to be at our best behavior :-) ).
Also I plan to have them put their research papers in the pkt archives
in the student papers archives, so when they go to graduate school taking
advantage of the graduate school directory we have they can return to
their earlier papers and keep a record of their intellectual development.
I'm also working on pkt's biography directory. I started with a hard one,
Sraffa. Here we have a short biography of the economists and then a list
of his/her works. This is a source I expect my students to use. I do hope
people on this list will contribute a list of their own writings so we
can put it in the biblio. directory. This really does help students with
their research projects. Also if you have students undergrads or grads
that you suggest they put their papers in the student papers directory
in the pkt archives. What will be interesting in twenty or thirty years
is when students write dissertations on Paul Davidson or whoever on this
list the importance these discussions will be for their research. Again,
these are just some of my ideas. For students and teachers if there is
any way that pkt can help in the learning process, please let me know.
