Dear Brent: Elgar informs me that POST KEYNESIAN MACROECONOMIC THEORY will
be produced by the end of March 1994. I think Elgar plans to have advanced copi
es at the Eastern Economic Association Convention in Boston in March. Elgar
claims it takes about two months to stock the warehouse so that sales to
the public are scheduled for June 1994. Obviously I cannot tell Elgar how to
run his business -- but if several people wrote in asking for advanced copies
he might make them available. The Table of Contents is as follows:
Ch. 1. The backgound for Keynes's revolution
ch. 2. The essential differences between the general theory and the classical s
system
Ch. 3. Expenditures related to income: Keynes's D1 category
Ch. 4. Investment spending
Ch. 5.Government and the level of output
Ch. 6. Money and uncertainty
Ch. 7. Liquidity preference -- the demand for money
Ch. 8. The finance motive and the interdependence of the real and monetary
sectors
Ch. 9. Three views of inflation
Ch. 10. Keynes's aggregate supply and demand analysis
Ch. 11. The demand and supply of labor
Ch. 12. Money in an international setting
Ch. 13. Trade imbalances and international payments
Ch. 14. International liquidity and exchange rate stability
Ch. 15. Financing the wealth of nations
Ch. 16. Export-led growth and a proposal for an international payments scheme
Ch. 17. Epilogue: truth in labbelling and economic textbooks
I think that anyone who adopts this text will not only challenge their
students but will find using it a challenging experience making the teacher
see thinks in a new -- and I believe-- better light.
The Full title of the book is: POST KEYNESIAN MACROECONOMIC THEORY; A
FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESSFUL ECONOMIC POLICIES FOR THE TWENTY FIRST CENTURY.
