Aggregate Supply

Dear Alan Isaac: Dave Robert's was a colleague of mine at Rutgers when he wrote
his exchange with Patinkin on Aggregate supply. Patinkin could never admit any
error. For example, see HOPE (1990-1992?) exchange between Fusfeld, Patinkin,
and myself on the mathematics of aggregat supply. While admitting that I
am mathematically correct, Patinkin insists that an ambigous passage
in a footnote of THE GENERAL THEORY allows him to maintain his position.
(Unfortunately in the original published version of this exchange there
is a printer's error that makes some of my equations difficult to read. HOPE
republished my paper in a subsequent issue, apologizing for the printer's error

which slipped in after I had approved the page proofs. Nevertheless, this
exchange shows the weakness of Patinkin's position.
Harcourt is editing (with Robin Rowley I believe) a Festshrift in honor
of Asimokopulos based on papers presented at a conference at the Jerome Levy
Institute for Economics about 2-1/2 years ago. My contribution is an
evaluation of Tom Asimkopulos's presentation of aggregate supply in his
book. If you want I could send you a copy. Paul Davidson

Have a good day!
